How to clean spills from your carpet

Spills and messes are inevitable, so if you end up with carpet stains, but haven’t installed a stain-resistant underlay or carpet, try following the following steps to help remove them:

1. Create a detergent solution by mixing half a teaspoon of clear dishwashing liquid with one cup of warm water.
2. Blot the excess spill with paper towels or a towel.
3. Wet a towel with the detergent solution and blot the stain. (BLOT, don’t rub)
4. Blot the stain using white vinegar (undiluted) with a damp towel.
5. Apply water with a damp sponge.

Blot again. Repeat steps 3-5 as necessary. Finish by weighing down some paper towels to absorb all the moisture. Leave it overnight if necessary.
